November 6, 2009
12:45 p.m.
Tours Sign, Great Hall
Free with Museum admission

A history of American interiors, told through galleries and period rooms arranged chronologically from the 17th through the early 20th century.

This voyage through the history and styles of American domestic spaces combines architectural elements, furnishings, silver, glass and other decorative and utilitarian objects.

Ten of the newly renovated period rooms are equipped with state of the art interactive computer touch screens, which explore the social and historical context of the rooms and catalogue information about their furnishings.

The Henry R. Luce Center for the Study of American Art displays additional examples of Americana.
